A Foundation Inspired by a Girl’s Quiet Courage

At just 14 years old, Jasmine Zou has already lived a story that many families recognize, one marked by confusion, exclusion, and quiet endurance. For years, Jasmine carried the question: Why do I experience the world differently? Her autism diagnosis brought clarity, but it also introduced new challenges. She learned to mask, to hide parts of herself, and to blend in. Yet she never stopped seeking understanding.

Jasmine’s journey of diagnosis, acceptance, and resilience became the inspiration behind The Guiding Light Foundation. Her experiences mirror what so many neurodivergent individuals and families face, and her story highlighted the gaps, uncertainties, and isolation that can accompany an ASD diagnosis.

Instead of letting her story remain a private struggle, Jasmine chose to share it in the hope that it might help others feel less alone. Her courage and insight motivated the creation of a foundation dedicated to offering understanding, connection, and support for those navigating similar paths.

The Guiding Light Foundation is deeply shaped by what Jasmine has lived. It is community-powered, informed by real experiences, and committed to creating a place where neurodivergent people of all ages can feel seen, valued, and supported. It is a place where stigma gives way to understanding, and where compassion becomes meaningful action.
Vision

From Vancouver to the World

The Guiding Light Foundation begins in Vancouver with a simple vision: to turn lived experience into strength for autistic individuals and their families. Our journey starts here, but our impact is meant to reach far beyond.
